About Me

I have worked in the brand development and communication space for a decade, both in a strategic and creative capacity. My agency background has given me the ability to quickly understand and deliver on briefs, always keeping the larger strategic aims of a project in mind. Additionally, my complementary expertise as a social and branding trend researcher and keynote speaker also gives my work enhanced depth and relevance, something I feel truly sets me apart as a writer and creative practitioner.

I studied at Rhodes University, majoring in English, Philosophy and Psychology for my undergrad and English for my BA (Hons). I received my second BA (Hons) in Brand Leadership from Vega School of Brand Communication in Durban, where I graduated at the top of my class. Prior to freelancing, I worked with the International Trend Institute (ITI) in Durban for 10 years as a strategic and conceptual copywriter, brand development specialist and the agency’s lead trend researcher. My experience has ranged from small startups to international brands in sectors including retail, fashion, place-making and B2B services, giving me the ability to seamlessly communicate across a range of media and contexts.

I am able to quote on projects on a case by case basis, depending on the requirements and expectations. For ad hoc writing, I base my fees on the SA Freelancers’ Association recommended rates, while for strategic and trend research project work I charge an hourly rate, which can be discussed in the briefing phase.

I present keynotes, including an annually-updated Macro Trend Review in association with ITI at a flat speaking fee. This depends on the specific product, so please get in touch for more information.
